Cortez Hill is a neighborhood that is a local kept secret. Its proximity to all the major attractions, good food, biggest park, paired with the quietness of a residential area perched up on the city's historic hill, makes this location ideal for a vacation getaway.
I like to call it, the center of San Diego's golden triangle: downtown just blocks down the hill, the convention center less than a mile away, Little italy and the farmers market a 10 minute walk, Balboa Park seen from our apartment window, and San Diego Zoo just a quick 5 min drive away (of 1.5 miles walking).

Gigi has a fantastic spot. I had only visited SD once before for a conference and having somebody to give recommendations for dinner and places to visit really made the total experience better. I love the location of Gigi's place, Cortez Hill, which I did not know about is a very quiet residential area of San Diego but has multiple quick trips under 10 minutes to all the good places to visit and has fast access to the highway. Gigi and Miguel are great hosts and offered excellent dinner recommendations and we loved their dog Benicio. Thank you to Gigi and Miguel for making our visit to San Diego extra special!
Gigi was a great host: I booked last minute to visit my mom in San Diego and she so graciously accommodated me. She made me feel right at home. Located in the heart of San Diego, the apartment is ten minutes from everything which is unheard of in so many large cities. From the moment you walk into the apartment you can tell that this is a nice home. Tastefully decorated, the room was very clean and bed was really comfortable with very nice linens and pillows. Gigi was a friendly host, easy to communicate with, and overall nice person. Should the occasion arise , I would definitely stay here again. Highly recommended.

I would highly recommend Gigi and Miguel's place for anyone looking for a central location to stay in SD! There was an airport and a highway very close by, but I wasn't too bothered by the noise, and didn't have any noise complaints at night. I was here for a month while working remote, and was able to work comfortably during the day while being close to everything SD had to offer during the evenings. The bedroom and bathroom were very spacious, and while the kitchen/living room were shared, I felt there was more than enough space and everything was very clean. The apartment itself has some amazing artwork, and Gigi and Miguel (and Benny!) were amazing hosts.
I stayed here for a month and it was perfect. The place has everything you need for a long stay and Gigi made everything easy. It was super comfortable (especially the bed) and felt like home. I even extended my stay another week or so. The location is awesome, plenty of things within walking distance. If you’re not from San Diego, downtown can have some sketchy areas and this is definitely not one of them. It is a very nice area. Being familiar with downtown I was pretty worried about the parking but Gigi gives you a parking permit that makes it much easier. Overall it was top notch. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
Gigi was very communicative and accommodating. Check in was super easy and parking wasn’t hard to find. It was very organized and comfy place. Location was great and walkable. It was overall very convenient and made our stay much easier and relaxing.
Gigi is an excellent host. She went above and beyond to ensure that our stay was comfortable. The apartment is a great size, in a really good location -- close to most of the attractions and restaurants. If we visit San Diego again, we will definitely try and stay at Gigi's again!

Gigi has a wonderful home tucked into a great neighborhood! We loved the stay and could walk everywhere easy. The couch and bed is so comfortable! Gigi made it very easy to check in / out.
Clean, spacious apartment on first floor. Friendly, helpful, proactive host. Everything as stated in listing. Next to freeway and flight path but well insulated — noise was never a problem. Great location 10-15 minutes from most main tourist attractions in San Diego. As walkable as San Diego can be; 10-20 minutes to restaurants and groceries.
We rented the condo on Cortez Hill for nearly a year. What an unbelievably great stay! Gigi was such a welcoming, kind, communicative, and responsive host. She introduced us to some of the neighbors, provided an awesome collection of dining recommendations and area attractions both common and those only a true local with great discerning taste would mention. We always felt like we were visiting family. The condo is furnished and decorated beautifully- warm, comfortable, relaxing. Beautiful views and short walk into Balboa Park. 15 minute walk down the hill to a Padres game, Gaslamp Quarter, Little Italy, embarcadero, seaport village. We loved having so much available to us just a short walk away. The condo is located in a very safe community, a dog park and playground across the street. We feel so fortunate to have found Gigi's place for our San Diego stay.
