Ense is an upscale culinary retreat in Valle de Guadalupe – a premium food and wine region in Baja California, Mexico. The term Ense is derived from a Mexican colloquialism of adding “ense” to the name of a place, in order to proudly claim one’s relationship with the region. For example, one from this region may call themselves a Valle de Guadalup-ense. As such, the Ense brand guarantees an authentic quality getaway and to “trust the planning to us.”
The design and architecture is Modern Boho Hacienda with minimalistic decor that focuses on the local natural resources, colors and flavors. The spirit of communication is mature, welcoming and alluring. Mixing a sans serif for the logo, and a warm and whimsical serif such as Quincy, gives an elevated vibe, with approachable modern character. With wine country and Baja desert geography in mind, the colors chosen for this luxury escape are earth-inspired, as well as cooling and meditative.

The Logo uses a slightly modified typeface, Brandon’s Grotesque and Condor, to provide an approachable look. Using letter elements to to construct the leafy icon, allows for a match in thickness and style. Quincy functions as the main branding typeface; warm, bright and honest characters with medium contrast, it evoke a sense of natural calmness.
The colors selected for this brand carry an warm earthy as well as cool meditative feeling. Clay, terra cotta, wine fields and flora and herbs are the local resources inspiring the color selection. Outlining of the logo’s icon allowed for an interesting pattern to be repeated throughout the branding, such as key holder, envelope, and soap wrapper.
Avory typeface is a gently condensed modern sans-serif that challenges convention. I thought it clever to play with a condensed type by altering its horizontal extremities, possibly hinting at its humble boldness, or desire to move beyond the traditional bounds.
Ense’s landing page is tiered in three columns in order to highlight not only their stays, but their promise and dedication to local experiences and the culinary scene. Their booking site is clean, attractive and most importantly, easy to navigate, making this relaxing stay an easy click away.
